Over the past couple of months, we have been working on a new GageIn brand. We were lucky enough to find Nick Levesque, an extremely talented graphic designer to help us create our logo and new site look and feel.

After many brainstorming sessions, we decided that a dragon would best represent GageIn. They are symbols of power, strength, and wisdom. The pearl that rests in its claws represents wealth and prosperity.

Here are some of Nick’s initial sketches.

After some refining, he proposed these ideas to us.

Just from a first glance, the one on the bottom left immediately stood out to us. It was strong, memorable, and eye-catching. We asked Nick to do some additional refinements to it, as well as adding some color.

Here’s his final design.

What do you think? We’re also upgrading the look & feel of our entire site, so keep checking back for some sneak peeks!

GageIn offers what it finds today’s sales organizations and professionals most crave: the ability to find the right opportunities at the right time, and easily access up-to-date business information. Today, we want to take you behind the scenes and talk about the technology that runs our sales intelligence platform.

GageIn combines web crawling, social media integration, big data, and natural language processing together. This unique approach allows us to pull the most comprehensive, yet relevant, intelligence from the widest number of sources.

Data Aggregation

GageIn uses proprietary machine learning algorithms (and human-assisted data provisioning for SMB websites, on occasion) to aggregate data from the widest variety of sources, from company websites and business databases to news outlets and social media sites.

Content Analysis

Aggregated content is then analyzed using open-source based machine learning algorithms and domain knowledge, ensuring accuracy and relevancy of data. GageIn sorts updates to companies, identifies sales triggers, and keeps business information up-to-date.

Intelligence Delivery

Intelligence is fully customizable based on individual preferences, and delivered to users in real-time through their sales processes. Information is linked back to its original sources so users can use GageIn as a hub to navigate their information network in a matter of clicks.

Now that we’re a couple of days into 2013, we wanted to take a moment to look back at GageIn’s past year! GageIn began with Dr. Peng’s vision of a business content hub that would make critical real-time information about every company easily accessible.

“I wanted to help every company, large and small, better understand its target accounts, markets, and industries so it could achieve better business results. We pushed ourselves to continuously advance our technology and improve our content aggregation and relevancy. Now, we are unleashing the full power of real-time intelligence for your business.”

In 2012, we learned that sales professionals and organizations benefitted most from our offering and started focusing on our sales features in order to maximize the value they . In August, we announced GageIn v2.0, redesigned as a sales intelligence platform.

We brought Agents to the forefront of the site, highlighting sales triggers as the solution for helping sales professionals capture the right opportunities at the right time by giving them real-time actionable business information. Our technology, including web crawling, social media integration, big data, and natural language processing, has been turned completely to the task of helping users generate new customers, opportunities, and close more deals. In the New Year, we plan to continue improving GageIn’s algorithms, content, and user experience to make it an even more powerful tool.

In other news:

We announced an important integration with Yammer in February. With the integration, we infused the social collaboration platform with business content, allowing users to drive more engaging discussions and pull team-members together to close deals more efficiently.

We also started developing a Salesforce application, to provide sales triggers and other intelligence on key accounts directly in users’ CRM.

2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for GageIn. We look forward to sharing new developments with you soon!

In a previous blog post, we talked about the importance of sales triggers and how they helped you build a high-quality pipeline.

This post will take you through your GageIn homepage (more specifically, your Agents feature) and show you the ins-and-outs of how to use Agents to build a list of opportunities.

Let’s go through the important features of this page:

1. Click here to configure your homepage and Agents. GageIn provides a list of 12 default Agents you can pick and choose from. Don’t see any that address your needs? Use keywords to build a custom Agent.

2. Check all available Agents for each of your target accounts.

3. Easily see the most recently available opportunities, organized by each target account.

4. Set the relevance of GageIn’s aggregated results. Seeing too much noise? Try setting the relevance level higher. Not seeing enough triggers? Try setting it lower.

Now that you’ve familiarized yourself with the homepage, let’s go over the results of an Agent. Remember the list of sources for sales triggers in our previous post?

Company press releases

Company blogs

Company social media profiles (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc)

News articles

Industry publications

GageIn monitors these sources and alerts you to any content that may assist you in a sales opportunity. Take our new features for a spin and start finding more opportunities today!

Buying leads and cold calling just isn’t cutting it anymore. How do you know your list of contacts even have a need for your offering? How do you know if your offering fits their requirements? How do you know you’re reaching them at the right time? Chances are you don’t, so most your calls are going to voicemail and your emails are being sent to spam.

Sales shouldn’t be about numbers and luck. Trigger events help you qualify your prospects streamline your prospecting into a targeted and efficient process. Today’s most effective sales professionals arm themselves with knowledge before any sales call, meeting, or negotiation. They are alerted to the necessary information to easily build qualified prospect lists and to contact prospects and customers with the right message, at the right time.

What are Trigger Events?

According to B2B Lead blog, “a trigger is a happening associated with a consequence so significant that it causes new behaviors, new ideas and new opportunities.” One of the author’s clients found that when he contacted companies after finding key trigger events, they were 400% more likely to buy.

Let’s do an exercise. Take a look at the list below and pick out the events most relevant to you. For example, if your company provides staffing services, you may be most interested in Business Challenges, Funding Development, Growth & Expansion, Hiring & Recruiting, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Personnel Changes. Keep an eye out for these events the next time you’re doing your daily sweep for information on prospects and customers.

Where Can I Find Trigger Events?

Company press releases

Company blogs

Company social media profiles (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc)

News articles

Industry publications

Trigger Events, A Case Study

InnoPath, a company providing over-the-air (OTA) device management solutions, accidentally discovered the value of contacting a prospect with the right knowledge, at the right time. When the company was still starting out, the founders spent a year trying to develop a core algorithm for byte-level differential update but had trouble matching the right application to the algorithm. By chance, they talked to NEC, one of Japan’s then leading feature phone manufacturers, and discovered that they had frequent firmware bugs and needed a solution to get rid of costly device recalls. NEC realized it would be able to leverage InnoPath’s technology for a handset firmware bug fix and became InnoPath’s first customer.

InnoPath’s founders had discovered that new prospects could easily be found by searching news articles for certain keywords. The information they gathered in the

following three months from keywords like ‘handset software bugs’ and ‘device recalls’, resulted in a number of Japanese handset manufacturers signing up as customers, including Panasonic and Sharp. Eventually, InnoPath achieved over 90% market share in Japan. Deals were closed within months at high-margin prices, without much pressure from competitors.

InnoPath founders had discovered a powerful weapon and leveraged it very effectively to fill their pipeline with qualified prospects, as well as reach out to their prospects with a targeted message. Trigger events, such as mergers and acquisitions, personnel changes, and business challenges, alert you to companies’ urgent needs, thus creating a perfect selling opportunity for you.

Not only do you have to have an understanding of their products and services, you should know their strengths, weaknesses, and positioning as well. Why is your product better than your competitors’? How can you create more value for your prospects than your competitors?

Use GageIn to find and follow your competitors, so you can easily keep track of their latest developments, changes in positioning, and more.

How to find and follow your competitors:

Or:

1. Select Companies in the search bar, then click Advanced.
2. Use the search filters to narrow down companies to find your competitors.
3. Once finished, click Search.
4. Select the companies you would like to follow and click Follow.

You may have noticed that GageIn has been looking a little different this past week. Our team released a major upgrade and launched GageIn v2.0. We have re-designed the GageIn platform and made many important improvements, based on your feedback and our vision for making GageIn the #1 sales intelligence platform.

Easier homepage navigation: We wanted to make intelligence gathering the number one priority on GageIn. Content is now categorized by Agents, Companies, Industries, and Lists. Each square displays when the latest update was posted. Sales triggers and relevant updates are easier to find than ever before.

Better email digests: Our newly updated digests have been revamped to prioritize trigger events, so critical updates are more easily discoverable.

Speeding things up: GageIn is now faster and more agile, thanks to our improved cache implementation. There’s still room for improvement, so we will be continuing our performance tuning.

More trigger events: GageIn now delivers more trigger events and ensures they are even more relevant than before. Add more qualified leads to your pipeline and stay updated on your target companies.

GageIn v2.0 is vastly more productive and more than ever before. It will continue to specialize in making information easily accessible so that professionals can build bigger and better leads lists, ensure every call is warm, and empower themselves to make the best business decisions…all while cutting down on research time.
